Shah Rukh also spoke at length about the July 11 terrorist attack in Mumbai that killed at least 200 people. “I had just come back from London when I heard about the blasts. It is immensely sad. It is an understatement to say that it was a bad thing to happen. I feel really sad. “People who were absolutely innocent and had not done any harm to any one had to die in a heinous act by some cowardly terrorists. It’s not going to serve any purpose. These people are psychopaths, I think.” The actor had some original take on the piracy problem plaguing the film industry, “There are certain things that are beyond your control, like the rains in Mumbai. Either you can keep on being concerned about them or you can do try doing something about them. I can do neither.” The issue of plagiarism too does not upset the star who admitted taking inspiration from Hollywood flicks. “I too get inspired by a lot of Hollywood films and the action sequences that I see in foreign films. Coming to your alleged bust-ups, like with Ram Gopal Varma, what happened Time with Machine? A director calls me, we negotiate a meeting, he narrates the story to me, we make an agreement and then they change their minds and tell the press. So I say OK. Ramu and I went through this and then he called me and said 'I don't think you trust me. I think I should go ahead with the project with someone else'. We work together, we are friends and I'm honoured to be working with Mr Bachchan. It's unfair to compare me with Mr Bachchan and it is disrespectful to him if you do that. What about competition with Abhishek? Why does everyone compete with me? First Hrithik (Roshan), now Abhishek. I'll always be on top of my game, whether my films do well or not. I have been here 16 years – when will people get it? Why pitch youngsters against me and put that pressure on them? There's no competition between Abhishek and me.
